- Honda CG125 launched in China
- Continues with a 40 year old design
- Will not be launched in India
Honda has launched the CG125 Special in China that will be sold through its subsidiary, Wuyang Honda in the country. The CG125 looks reminiscent of the super-frugal Hero Honda CD100 that was sold in India.
In fact, the Honda CG125’s design has remained majorly unaltered since its introduction in 1976. The square headlamp, tail lamp and indicators continue with conventional lighting while the elongated fuel tank and round mirrors also remain the same. That said, it also gets a fully-analogue instrument cluster. Now that’s something uncommon in today’s day and age, and that is what makes the CG125 Special even more special. Well, not all is similar though. The new, special-edition CG125 skips out on the chrome bits and goes for a blacked-out look for the engine, wheels and suspension. Moreover, Honda has also skipped out on the grabrail/luggage rack for a clean rear end.
Under its retro styling is a somewhat retro engine too. The overhead valve configuration of the 125cc, air-cooled engine remains the same. And the motor dishes out a healthy 9.9bhp and 9.5Nm and offers a claimed 55.5kmpl. Now, Honda has priced the CG125 Special at an equivalent of Rs 90,000 in China. In comparison to the Honda Shine that is sold in India, it costs close to Rs 10,000 more.
