- Aims to bring safety aid to a large lineup
- Radar cruise control, blind-spot detection, LIDAR and more included
- Honda could also add self-stabilization for added safety
In one of our previous stories, we reported that Honda was working towards two-wheeler autonomy and now its latest patent details have been leaked. The new reports suggest that the Japanese two-wheeler maker aims to add its upcoming safety net to a bunch of models including smaller displacement ones too.
Apart from radar cruise control, LIDAR (Light Detection and Image Ranging) and blind-spot detection, Honda is likely to add tumble suppression assistance torque too. The last bit aids the bike/scooter to balance whenever it senses an involuntary fall/lean.
Moreover, it could also include the collision mitigation braking system (self-braking in case of danger), lane keep assist with a lane-departure warning, Theoretically, the lane departure warning works with vibrations coming from corresponding vehicles and not the bike’s engine or wheels.
While Honda aims to drop fatal collisions to zero by 2050, it will be a while before we see all these rider aids in application on the road.
