Honda conducted a road safety awareness drive all over India on National Road Safety Week. The manufacturer conducted various initiatives during the week advocating safety amongst the people that attended the drive at different locations in the country.
Over 25,000 participants took the road safety pledge. Amongst these, 10,000 people learnt riding techniques from the trainers deployed by Honda. The company spread the message through 815 dealers, 1,325 sub dealers, 1,150 authorised service centres, three manufacturing plants, 11 zonal offices and five regional offices across the country. They installed riding training simulators at prime locations to impart road safety amongst the general people.
The different initiatives included several activities like training and seminars on road safety. These were followed by a Road Safety Quiz and a Safety Slogan competition. A safety rally in Bhubaneswar and Bhopal; and a felicitation ceremony in Delhi were some of the key highlights of the event. Children and women were given awards as a token of appreciation for learning the riding techniques.
Yadvinder S. Guleria, Vice President-Sales and Marketing, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. said, "Promoting road safety is a continued commitment for Honda. The national traffic safety week is an excellent avenue to amplify our voice and reach-out to more and more people. Honda and its business partners are promoting road-safety with full vigor and enthusiasm; as well as to general public, who has joined hands with us to make our roads a safer place.”
Honda has set up traffic parks in Jaipur, Delhi, Chandigarh, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack with an aim to create awareness about road safety. They have been promoting safe riding since 2001 and through their different initiatives have given the youth an opportunity to gain information on safety riding and acquire other similar tips.
