Honda’s Yamaha FZ25 rival updated for 2022

- 2022 Honda CB250R unveiled

- Gets functional upgrades 

- Will not be launched in India

Honda has launched the 2022 CB250R in Malaysia at an equivalent of Rs 4.27 lakh and has updated the motorcycle with some mechanical changes. 

To begin with, it now rides on Showa Big Piston Separate Function forks. You also get a five-step adjustable monoshock at the rear. Adding to that, the 2022 Honda CB250R also receives an LCD instrument cluster that comes with a gear position indicator similar to what the India-spec CB300R comes with. However, besides these changes, the CB250R remains the same.

 It comes powered by a 249cc, single-cylinder engine that churns out 27.6bhp and 23.4Nm. While these numbers make it less powerful on paper compared to the KTM 250 Duke, the CB’s 144kg kerb weight means that it is a whopping 26kg lighter than the Duke.

Now, in terms of features, the CB250R is similar to the CB300R sold here. It gets full-LED lighting and a dual-channel ABS as standard. However, it is unlikely to come to India for that very reason- the CB300R. Since there is no significant difference between the two models, Honda will not bring the CB250R here. But if it were ever to be launched, it would compete against the Yamaha FZ25, Suzuki Gixxer 250 and the Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 in the country.
