A prototype model of what looks like a Husqvarna café racer has been spied testing just outside KTM headquarters in Austria.
This upcoming motorcycle from the Swedish brand is a part of its 2016 line-up, along with the 701 Supermoto. While the overall design is new and fresh, the Husqvarna café racer is based on the KTM Duke 690. There is the Husqvarna 401 Vitpilen that’s already under development and has been spied a couple of times. However, it looks like they wants to cater to the high-end café racer segment with the Husqvarna 701.
Unlike the 401 Vitpilen that was born as a concept and showcased at the 2014 EICMA, its bigger sibling might be revealed to the world, for the first time, as a production-ready model. For lot of reasons, this bike looks quite practical for someone who wants the KTM DNA along with some fresh design. The spied bike carried low-seat height, clip-on handlebars, under belly exhaust, new wheels and new body panels. Few components like the fender have been picked from the Duke 690 –a way to keep costs in check.
We will have to wait until November when the Husqvarna 701 debuts at the 2015 EICMA. We are quite excited to see this new type of motorcycle under KTM line-up.
