After teasing us with the “raising the adrenaline” video, Husqvarna has unveiled the 701 Supermoto at the ongoing EICMA motorcycle show being held at Milan, Italy. The 701 concept was showcased at last year’s EICMA and looks like this just wasn’t a poster toy.
Powering this supermoto is a 690cc single cylinder four-stroke engine that churns out around 67bhp of power and sends it to rear wheel via chain drive. The Husqvarna 701 is a trimmed version of the KTM 690 SMC R and shares lot of components. It tips the scale at 145kg, which means better acceleration and top speed compared to its Austrian sibling.
The new Husqvarna street model features the latest ride-by-wire throttle control and engine management system as well as the most advanced WP suspension dedicated Supermoto ABS and APTC slipper clutch. We were expecting something better from the Swedish manufacturer but all we got was a rebadged KTM.
If you are one of those who clicked this new link to see launch date of this bike in India, well, we might have to give you the bad news. This bike is still few years away before it makes to Indian roads but chances of this bike being manufactured in India in 2-3 years is very good.
