Ian Hutchinson has added a third jewel to his crown by notching a victory in the second Supersport category at the 2015 Isle of Man TT. This victory follows the Yorkshireman wins in both the Superstock TT and the Supersport TT classes, earlier this week, marking a remarkable return to the road race series after his recovery from a crash, five years ago.
Hutchinson’s first victory came on Monday when he clinched Supersport TT class, setting the fastest lap in the process. Hutchinson grabbed the lead in the race from the first lap itself ending the race with 7.7 seconds to spare. The second victory came on Tuesday, where Hutchinson won the RL360 Superstock race astride a PBM Kawasaki. Though last year's winner Michael Dunlop led the opening two laps of the stage, Hutchinson started to gain on Dunlop's lead steadily and passed him before their pitstop, ending the race 32 seconds ahead of Dunlop.
Back in 2010, Hutchinson had established his supremacy over road racing by becoming the only person ever to win five classes of the Isle of Man TT. However, a horrific crash at Silverstone in the same year meant that Hutchinson sustained severe damage to his left leg. Though he returned to the Isle of Man TT in 2012, continuing issues in his leg sidelined him from both the 2013 and 2014 TTs. Last year, Hutchinson underwent 30 operations to get back to shape, and these results now speak for themselves.
