70 EMG and FOX International Channels, the organisers of the third edition of the India Bike Week have announced that the two-day event will witness the Howling Dog quarter mile drag, powered by Shell Advance. Besides the drag racing event, the IBW will also play host to Mark Wilsmore, who will lead a café racer parade through the festival.
Drag racing is a type of motorsport which involves motorcycles and cars racing against the clock on a 400 metre or a ‘quarter mile’ stretch. The Howling Dog quarter mile drag will take place during the IBW in Vagator, Goa on February 20 and 21, 2015.
Mark Wilsmore was responsible for organising the first reunion of the Ace Café in London in 1994, which eventually led to the café being resurrected to its former glory. The Ace Café is considered as an important symbol in the history of Britain's biker culture. At the IBW, Mr Wilsmore will spend time with his fans while reminiscing about his experiences during his rocker days, back in London.
Announcing the inclusion of drag racing at IBW, Martin da Costa, CEO of 70 EMG said, “Music is for dancing, alcohol is for drinking, petrol is for riding and now we will have a lot of nitro for racing, the drag race at IBW will get the adrenaline pumping. And with Mark Wilsmore from Ace Café, the biker bar of London and a place visited by biking enthusiasts from all over the world, riding with us at India Bike Week we can proudly say that the Biking brotherhood is getting grand in 2015.”
Mr Keertan Adyanthaya, MD, FOX International Channels said, “Asia’s biggest motorcycle party is back with galore of attractions and it’s just getting bigger each year. In the last two years IBW inspired a new generation of bikers, and we are thrice as thrilled about 2015 as we expect to create an aura around the event that will make it a destination hard to be missed."
