- Based on Trident 660
- Will have sport-touring ergonomics
- India launch by end of 2024
Triumph Motorcycles is all set to unveil the Daytona 660 to the world tomorrow, 9 January. While the ‘Daytona’ name is making a comeback, the motorcycle is expected to be unlike its previous iterations.
Spyshots have revealed that Triumph has taken a different approach to this Daytona. Unlike the 675 and the limited-edition 765 Moto2 edition, the 660 seems to be more of a sport-touring offering than a track machine. It is expected to offer a slightly more upright riding posture. Now, the new Triumph Daytona 660 is to be based on the Trident 660 which has also spawned the Tiger Sport 660. Hence, it will use the same 660cc, inline-three engine with 80bhp and 64Nm on tap. However, a different state of tune to suit the Daytona is what we expect.
That said, hardware is likely to be shared across the platform to keep costs in check. As for features, it could get ride modes, traction control and a quickshifter as standard along with the semi-circular instrument cluster on the other other 660s. Now, the design is close to the previous-gen Daytonas and is sharp. The front end comprises of a split-LED headlamp setup, full fairing while the rear end is aggressive too.
With the global unveil scheduled for tomorrow, we can expect Triumph to launch the Daytona 660 in India by the end of this year. Given that the Trident and Tiger Sport 660 are already available here, the Daytona is likely to slot between the two motorcycles.
