Yamaha has taken the wraps off the 2024 MT-09 ahead of the EICMA 2023. While the Hamamatsu-based brand displayed the previous generation in India, we can expect it to launch the updated model here instead. So before it arrives, let us tell you everything you need to know about the Yamaha MT-09.
New design
The most noticeable change to the new MT-09 is to its design. If the previous one seemed radical to you, the latest motorcycle has taken things to another level. It is much more ‘otherworldly’ thanks to the new position of the LED DRLs. The MT-09 also looks much more angular, keeping in line with the MT-10. Even the rear section has been tweaked to look sportier but with the same colour options on offer, there is a sense of familiarity.
Fresh features
Included in the list of updates are new features. There is the vertically stacked LED headlamp flanked by LED DRLs. The motorcycle also gets a new five-inch TFT dashboard that offers smartphone connectivity and navigation. For 2024, it also gets three preset and two customisable riding modes as well as cruise control and self-cancelling turn indicators.
Updated cycle parts
Other than this, the MT-09 gets a few changes on its hardware. So it comes with KYB front and rear suspension that has been tweaked in terms of spring rate and damping. It also comes with Brembo brakes that are a new addition to the motorcycle. Then there is the 17-inch aluminum wheels that are wrapped in new Bridgestone Battlax Hypersport S23 tyres.
Same engine
Well, the engine has not been changed for 2024. It continues to come with a 890cc, CP3, three-cylinder engine that churns out 117.3bhp at 10,000rpm and 93Nm of torque that comes in at 7,000rpm. This engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch as standard.
