- 390 Adventure India launch planned for 2019
- India will get the bike first
-Spoke-wheel version under development
Sometime last year, Bajaj had officially revealed the launch plans of KTM’s most awaited motorcycle, the 390 Adventure. The company said that this bike will go on sale in 2019, but didn’t give any other information.
According to our sources, the KTM 390 Adventure is likely to make its global debut at the 2019 EICMA Show. Post the global debut, the Pune-based manufacturer is likely to launch the 390 Adventure in India in December, making India the first country to get this ADV. The production of the bike will commence at the Chakan plant post the global debut. In fact, the company is planning to add another assembly line for this bike at the Chakan plant as the bike is expected to get a good demand from the India as well as the global markets. Plus, this same assembly will be used to build the upcoming Husqvarna bikes – the Svartpilen and the Vitpilen 401.
Bajaj has been testing the 390 Adventure in India since the last few months. Till now, only the alloy-wheel version has been spotted on test, but there’s a spoke-wheel version under development as well. Some test mules were spotted with luggage options as well which makes us believe that the company would sell a host of accessories through its official showrooms.
Once launched, the KTM 390 Adventure will go against the Royal Enfield Himalayan, BMW G310GS and the Kawasaki Versys X-300. In terms of pricing, it will be more expensive than the Himalayan but will cost lesser than the Versys X-300 and the G310GS.
