Scooter India, a state owned company, is planning to bring back the Lambretta brand in India. However, the legendary scooter will make a come-back in an electric form.
Recently, the board of directors of the company decided to diversify its business and venture into electric two-wheeler business. The company zeroed down on the Lambretta as this brand is well known to the Indian consumers and it made perfect sense to relaunch it.
The company is currently in discussion with a few companies like BHEL, NTPC for this project. There’s no information on this upcoming product yet, but we believe it will be built from ground up and that means the launch will take place in the next three to four years. The electric two-wheeler segment in India is likely to grow further, thanks to the availability of more EVs and increased focus on green mobility by the government
