- Weighs just 99kg
- Uses a 125cc engine
- Not much different from Indian-spec model
Yamaha has introduced the Ray ZR 125 for the European market for 2024. This is the same scooter that has been around in India since 2021.
That said, Yamaha is exporting the scooter from our country into Europe and hasn’t made many changes to the international model. It continues to use a 125cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine with fuel-injection that offers 8bhp and 10.3Nm. Interestingly though, the scooter weighs just 99kg, making it the lightest scooter from Yamaha in Europe. Unlike India where the scooter is offered in an array of colours, the foreign market will get the Matte Red and Midnight Black paint schemes only. Having said that, the design and bodywork is the same and seems to be a scooterised version of the MT series with the ‘air scoops’ and edgy design.
The feature list includes a combined braking system, side-stand cut off and a semi-digital instrument cluster. Suspension duties are taken care of by telescopic forks and a rear spring while a disc brake at the front and drum brake at the rear make up for anchoring duties. The Yamaha Ray ZR 125 rides on a 12-inch front and 10-inch rear wheels shod with tubeless tyres.
While the European pricing of the Yamaha Ray ZR 125 hasn’t been revealed yet, the scooter costs Rs 84,730, ex-showroom, Delhi.
