- 2021 KTM RC 390 gets revised engine mapping
- Updated model makes more torque than before
- Features lean-sensitive electronic rider aids
KTM has unveiled the India-bound 2021 RC 390 with several styling and feature upgrades over its predecessor. The motorcycle also gets a new engine mapping and a redesigned airbox that helps it achieve a higher torque output over the old motorcycle. The 2021 KTM RC 390 also features an entirely new exhaust system, complete with stainless steel header pipes and an aluminium muffler.
The updated feature list includes new rider aids such as switchable ABS, lean angle sensitive cornering ABS, and cornering traction control system as standard while the Quickshifter+ will be available as an optional extra. A Bluetooth-enabled colour-TFT display is now part of the package.
The new model also benefits from 43mm WP APEX split functionality, open cartridge forks. These adjustable front forks come with 30 clicks for compression on the left fork and 30 clicks for rebound on the right fork. The rear mono-shock is adjustable for preload. The India-spec model may miss the suspension adjustability function, although it could receive the Quickshifter+ technology as standard. The braking setup will retain a 320mm single disc with a radially mounted four-piston-fixed ByBre calliper at the front and a 230mm disc brake with a single-piston fixed calliper at the rear. The motorcycle will get an adjustable brake and clutch lever as standard.
Styling upgrades include a single-pod LED headlight that replaces the projector-style units on the outgoing version. The new LED headlamp is flanked by turn indicators on either side. The fairing on the 2021 model also receives styling revisions and the updated model features a sharper design. At the back, the 2021 RC 390 gets a redesigned tail section with a more accommodating pillion seat. Underneath the updated bodywork, the 2021 RC 390 uses a revised frame that now uses a bolted sub-frame.
The company stated in its international press announcement that the updated range will be available in dealerships in March 2022. However, we expect to see the updated RC series on the Indian shores very soon.
