Ducati has unveiled the 2022 iteration of its flagship adventure tourer motorcycle, the Multistrada V4 for the international markets. While the Indian launch details are unavailable, this version should arrive on our shores later this year. Meanwhile, here we explain the top details of the 2022 Ducati Multistrada V4.
New Colour
The S variant of the 2022 Multistrada V4 will be available in a new colour option. Ducati will offer the 2022 Multistrada V4 S in the new Iceberg White paint that features a glossy white colour. The Iceberg White will join the Ducati Red and Aviator Grey colour options. Internationally, the Multistrada V4 will be ordered in four trims – Essential, Radar, Travel and Radar, and Full.
Updated Electronics
The MY2022 Multistrada V4 also gets an update to the electronics package in the form of a new semi-automatic function of the electronic suspension. This new setup, called Minimum Preload, allows the rider to reduce the height of the motorcycle and makes it easier and safer for them to place their feet on the ground during city use or when manoeuvring at low speeds. The company has also updated the infotainment (Ducati Connect) and HMI (Human-Machine Interface) software. The new package of updates, which are available as standard on new motorcycles, will be offered free of charge to the existing owners of the Multistrada V4 S.
Newer Ducati Performance Accessories
The optional accessories for the Multistrada V4 range now include two important additions – lowered suspension kit and aluminium bags. The lowered suspension kit, available as an accessory for the Multistrada V4 S, consists of fork springs, shock absorber springs, and a side stand that are designed to reduce the seat height by 20 mm. The low saddle and raised saddle accessory allow the rider to choose the seat height in a range between 790mm and 875mm.
Furthermore, starting from April 2022, Ducati will offer aluminium side panniers and top case, designed by the Centro Stile Ducati and made in collaboration with Givi, as optional accessories. The side panniers are 76-litre large while the top case boasts a 41-litre storage capacity. Internal bags are also part of optional extras.
No Changes to the Motor
Ducati has made no changes to the motor on the MY22 Multistrada V4. Thus, the motorcycle retains the 1,158cc, four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 168bhp of power at 10,500rpm and 125Nm of peak torque at 8,750rpm. The motor is linked to a six-speed gearbox.
Unchanged Design and Hardware
Ducati has not made any changes to the design of the motorcycle and the MY22 Multistrada V4 carries the same styling cues as the existing model. Thus, the motorcycle comes equipped with a twin-pod headlight, fairing-mounted front turn indicators, an adjustable windscreen, semi-fairing, a step-up seat, and a side-slung exhaust.
The hardware on the base model includes 50mm upside-down front forks and a rear mono-shock – both fully-adjustable manually. The V4 S, on the other hand, uses Ducati’s electronically-adjustable Skyhook suspension at both ends. The anchoring setup on the top-spec model includes Brembo M50 Stylema callipers with 330mm discs up front whereas the standard version gets 320mm discs for the front with Brembo monobloc callipers. Both models use a 265mm disc at the rear.
