The Honda CB500X has received a significant update for 2022 that add value to its package. While it is currently up for grabs in international markets, the 2022 CB500X is expected to be launched in India too, maybe sometime later this year. So, before it arrives, here is everything you need to know about the motorcycle.
New colour
Honda has adorned the 2022 CB500X with a new colour that replaces all the other colour options from the previous year. It is called Pearl Organic Green and features on the fuel tank and front fender whereas the rear end is done up in black.
Updated suspension
However, the bigger update to the motorcycle is the new front suspension. Gone are the telescopic forks which have been replaced by Showa SF-BPF inverted forks. For those not in the know, ‘SF’ stands for separate function while ‘BPF’ is Big Piston Forks. The setup is premium and found on much bigger motorcycles.
Revised braking setup
Along with the new suspension, Honda has also gone ahead and revised the motorcycle’s brakes. While the previous version of the CB500X used a single 310mm disc, the 2022 model offers two 296mm discs at the front with ABS as standard.
Lighter than before
The CB500X seems to have got all its revisions at the front end itself. The touring-focused motorcycle now comes with a lighter front wheel that sheds 1kg of the total weight of the motorcycle. That said, since it is made of cast aluminum, the wheel is also more tensile.
Same engine
Nonetheless, Honda has kept the engine unchanged. And in our experience with the motorcycle, the 47bhp producing 499cc parallel-twin engine impressed us. In true Honda fashion, it is refined and smooth with a throttle response to match.
India launch and price expectation
Now, while we expect the 2022 CB500X to be introduced in India sometime this year, it will most definitely cost a premium over the current model with all the updates. With a mind-boggling Rs 6.87 lakh price tag, thanks to it being a CKD unit, Honda should be looking to localize manufacturing to price it competitively.
