- 2022 Kawasaki Versys 650 unveiled at 2021 EICMA
- Gets styling and feature updates
- India launch could take place early next year
After keeping the Versys 650 unchanged for a long time, Kawasaki has finally introduced a majorly-updated version of the middle-weight touring motorcycle. The 2022 edition of the Versys 650 has reserved a spot at the ongoing EICMA show in Milan, Italy.
Design and modern features were the areas where the Versys 650 was pretty outdated. Kawasaki has addressed this with the 2022 model year of the motorcycle. With a styling inspired by the new Versys 1000, it looks more aggressive with an angry-looking face. There’s a sharper dual-pod LED headlamp accompanied by a tiny beak underneath and a four-step adjustable windscreen on top. The fuel tank, side panels, and overall graphics have also been updated.
Surprisingly, the 2022 Versys 650 also comes equipped with a two-level traction control system. This is the first 650cc kwacker to receive this feature. Furthermore, a new 4.3-inch full-colour TFT screen with Bluetooth connectivity as standard is also a part of the package. The list of updates end here and all the other qualities of the motorcycle remain unchanged.
Powering the 2022 Versys 650 is the same 650cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine that churns out 64.8bhp of power and 60.7Nm of peak torque. This unit comes mated to a six-speed gearbox. The motorcycle rides on 17-inch alloy wheels that are suspended by inverted forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear. Braking is handled by dual discs up front and a single disc at the back.
Kawasaki will perhaps launch the 2022 Versys 650 in the first half of next year in India. The prices will definitely be more than the existing model that retails for Rs 7.15 lakh (ex-showroom).
