In the last month, Benelli had launched the Leoncino 250 in the Philippines market. The quarter-litre motorcycle was priced in the country at PHP 1,99,000, which converts to Rs 3.4 lakh. Meanwhile, the company has so confirmed that it will be introducing the Leoncino 250 in the Indian market. While we await the launch timeline of the same, here we bring to you every other detail of the quarter-litre motorcycle.
Engine
It's powered by a 249cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that churns out 24.14bhp at 9,500rpm and 21Nm at 7,500rpm. All this power and torque is taken to its wheels via a six-speed gearbox. For the Indian market the company will revise the engine to comply with the latest BS6 emission norms and that might vary its power figures over the BS4 model.
Design
The Leoncino 250 is a lean and closely packed quarter-litre motorcycle. It gets an oval-shaped headlamp, circular mirrors and a snub tail section. It further comes with graphics on its sides, a single piece seat with a grab handle strap, a chunky exhaust with a metal cover, a tyre hugger and an underbelly pan. In a few Asian countries, the Leoncino 250 is available in three colour options: Red, Grey and Brown. The Red colour gives it a sporty appeal, while the Grey and Brown colour lend it a casual look.
Features
In terms of features, it comes with all LED lights, a fully-digital instrument cluster with day/night mode, ABS as standard and the Lion of Pesaro motif on the front fender. It further gets a Benelli badge on its 12.5-litre fuel tank.
Hardware
The ride here is taken care of by 41mm upside-down forks at the front and a swing arm with a central shock absorber at the rear. For braking, it employs a 280mm floating disc at the front and a 240mm floating disc at the rear. It runs on 17-inch wheels that are wrapped with tyres having 110mm width at the front and 150mm width at the rear.
