The price of the 2019 Honda CBR650R has been revealed in the UK. The on road cost of the motorcycle is £7729 (approximately Rs 7.07 lakhs). First unveiled at the 2018 EICMA show in Milan, Italy, the motorcycle will replace the Honda CBR650F in the international as well as Indian market.
As a whole package, the CBR650R is a more aggressive and performance oriented motorcycle which is evident from its styling. Taking design inspiration from the current CBR1000RR Fireblade, it is adorned with sharper body panels, especially the front fascia. The single unit headlamp of the 650F makes way for the angry-looking twin headlamp set up. The fairing, fuel tank and tail section have also been designed to make it look sportier while it also possesses a more committed riding posture.
Powering the motorcycle is a 649cc, in-line four cylinder motor that is tuned to deliver higher power at 98bhp at 12,000rpm and 64Nm at 8,500rpm. Meanwhile, the CBR650F generates 84bhp and 60.5Nm. The unit is mated to a six-speed gearbox. To make it safer, Honda has incorporated features like the HSTC (Honda Selectable Torque Control) to avoid rear wheel sliding along with ABS and slipper clutch.
The 2019 Honda CBR650R is highly likely to be launched in India in the first half of this year. To be available as a CKD (completely knocked-down) unit, the bike is expected to be priced around Rs 8 lakhs (ex-showroom). The CBR650F retails at Rs 7.42 lakhs (ex-showroom). In its price range, 650R will compete against the Suzuki GSX-S750, Kawasaki Z900 and the Ducati Monster 797.
