- Suzuki V-Strom 1050 range available in international market
- Competes against Honda Africa Twin
- Could be launched in India sometime next year
Suzuki has launched its flagship adventure-touring motorcycle, the V-Strom 1050 in Malaysia. The Honda Africa Twin rival is also expected to make its way to India sometime next year.
Now the V-Strom 1050 is available in two variants- standard and a more off-road capable DE. Both carry a styling inspired by the Suzuki DR Big of yesteryear but come with modern features like six-axis IMU, lean-sensitive ABS, hill hold, cruise control, riding modes, and traction control. It even gets a bi-directional quickshifter to make the six-speed gearbox easier to use. That said, the V-Strom uses a 1037cc, V-twin engine that churns 107bhp and 100Nm.
To make it off-road capable the V-Strom 1050 DE gets a 21-inch front spoke wheel, engine guard and belly pan. That said it also offers a 170mm travel at the front and rear with a ground clearance of 190mm. The Suzuki V-Strom makes for a healthy competitor to the Honda Africa Twin as well as the Triumph Tiger 900 and the BMW F850 GS, all of which are available in India. However, the launch of the motorcycle is likely to happen after Suzuki brings in the V-Strom 800 DE to the country.
