- Suzuki V-Strom 800 launched internationally
- Will sit below V-Strom 1050
- Likely to be launched in India this year
Suzuki took the wraps off the V-Strom 800DE at the EICMA last year. After being launched in Italy, the motorcycle has made its way to the United Kingdom.
The motorcycle has been priced at GBP 10,499, equivalent to Rs 10.30 lakh. Now, the Suzuki V-Strom 800DE is also expected to make its debut in India sometime this year and is likely to be priced around Rs 11.5 lakh, ex-showroom. The motorcycle will sit above the V-Strom 650XT in the Indian market since the bigger V-Strom 1050 isn’t available yet. The 800DE borrows styling cues from the 1050 but with its own character. There are vertically stacked LED headlamps, a tall windscreen and handguards.
Suzuki is offering the motorcycle with a 776cc, parallel-twin engine that is capable of churning out 83bhp and 78Nm. It comes mated to a six-speed gearbox. As for features, the V-Strom 800DE comes with multiple riding modes, a two-way quickshifter, traction control and a five-inch TFT screen. To credit its off-road ability the motorcycle comes with a 21/17-inch spoke wheel combo wrapped in Dunlop Trailmax Mixtour tyres. Suspension is sourced from Showa with a pair of fully-adjustable forks at the front and a preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear. It also gets decent ground clearance of 220mm and a seat height of 855mm.
The Suzuki V-Strom 800DE takes on other players in the segment like the Triumph Tiger 900 and the BMW F850 GS as well. Internationally, it also competes against the Honda Transalp 750, Yamaha Tenere 700 and the KTM 790 Adventure.
