Suzuki has launched the latest iteration of the V-Strom 800DE in the USA. The bike was unveiled last year at the EICMA and then debuted in various countries with America being the latest one. It’s likely to be launched in India as well and here’s what we know about it.
The V-Strom 800DE will be priced above the existing V-Strom 650XT. It gets a different design with a more modern approach. The vertically stacked LED headlight is topped by a transparent visor and gets a beak below it. Overall, the 800DE borrows styling elements from the bigger V-Strom 1050 (only sold overseas).
Powering the V-Strom 800 is a 776cc parallel-twin engine with the output rated at 83bhp and 78Nm. It’s mated to a six-speed gearbox which benefits from a bi-directional quickshifter. The V-Strom 800DE also gets rider aids like traction control, ride modes, and ABS. All these features can be toggled on the five-inch TFT screen. It rides on fully adjustable Showa USD front forks and a monoshock. And the braking hardware comprises dual petal front discs and a single rear disc mounted on spoked 21/17-inch spoke wheels wrapped in Dunlop Trailmax Mixtour tyres.
Once launched in India, the Suzuki V-Strom 800DE will rival the Triumph Tiger 900 and the BMW F850 GS and more.
