Triumph Motorcycles will unveil its flagship roadster, the Speed Triple 1200 RS tomorrow. The India launch details are already out, and the new Speed Triple 1200 RS will be introduced in our market on 28 January, 2021. While most of the details are under cover, the company has released a teaser video of the motorcycle, giving a brief look at the updated headlight design. The new Speed Triple 1200 RS will retain the twin-pod headlight, although the setup will feature an even aggressive look that will be similar to the Street Triple RS.
The teaser video also gave a glimpse at the silhouette of the new roadster, showcasing its muscular fuel tank and the step-up seat design. The RS badge, as seen in the middleweight segment, should bring top-spec hardware to the latest iteration of the Speed Triple. Expect to see Ohlins-sourced suspension setup and Brembo-sourced brakes on the new Speed Triple 1200 RS. The motorcycle should also benefit from the comprehensive electronic rider aids to match its rivals such as the KTM 1290 Super Duke R, the BMW S 1000 R, and the likes.
The displacement, as the name suggests, will receive an increase. While Triumph Motorcycles has remained tight-lipped about the details, reports indicate that the Speed Triple 1200 RS will be powered by a 1,160cc engine as against the 1,050cc motor on the old model. The power and torque output numbers, too, should witness a noticeable step-up.
With all the updates, the motorcycle is expected to carry a price premium over its predecessor. We expect the new Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS to arrive in Rs 13-14 lakh price range.
