- To replace Tiger 850 Sport as the entry-level model
- Will share its engine with the Trident 660
- Indian launch details unavailable yet
The India-bound Triumph Tiger 660 will be unveiled on 5 October, 2021. The British two-wheeler maker made the announcement via its social media handles. This new member of the Triumph Tiger adventure-tourer range will replace the Tiger 850 Sport as the entry-level model in the company’s portfolio. The Indian launch details are unavailable yet, although we could see this motorcycle on our shores soon after its global unveiling.
Triumph Motorcycles has already given a glimpse at the new Tiger 660 in prototype form. The photographs revealed the styling cues and the hardware on the upcoming adventure-tourer. The styling cues, as seen in the official photographs, will include a semi-fairing design along with a tall windscreen, a sharp design for the twin-pod headlight, a muscular fuel tank, a step-up seat, and an underbelly exhaust.
The feature list on the new Tiger Sport 660 will include full-LED lighting and a digital instrument cluster. The details about the rider aids are limited but the electronics package could be similar to the Trident 660. Thus, the upcoming Tiger Sport 660 should benefit from switchable traction control, switchable ABS, and two riding modes (Rain and Road) as standard.
The company has also remained tight-lipped about the mechanical specifications, although we could see similar power and torque output numbers as the Trident 660. The 660cc, inline-three-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine on the roadster makes 80bhp of power at 10,250rpm and 64Nm of peak torque at 6,250rpm.
