The upcoming third-gen Yamaha R15 V3.0 has been spotted at an undisclosed yard in Vietnam ahead of its official launch. The entry-level sports motorcycle was globally unveiled in Indonesia earlier in January 2017. Along with a fresh set of feature upgrades the bike will also offer a slipper clutch as a standard fitment, which is indeed the very first to be offered in the 150cc segment.
The new model continues to be based on a Deltabox frame, but this time around it gets an aggressive fairing and LED based headlamps and LED turn indicators. The bike gets upside down front forks, new wide alloy wheels and full a LCD instrument cluster with gear indicator. The new model continues to get disc brakes on the front as well as rear, but this time it gets a larger 282mm unit on the front. ABS has however not been offered on the motorcycle.
The new Yamaha R15 V3.0 is powered by a 155cc liquid cooled SOHC single-cylinder engine that generates 19bhp of power and 14.7Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a six-speed transmission. The upcoming third-gen model also gets Variable Valve Actuation technology (VVA technology) which should help give it more guts in the midrange.
In India, the new Yamaha R15 V3.0 is expected to be launched by the festive season this year. It will compete against the likes of the Honda CBR150R and the KTM RC200 in the country. Although the prices and other details will be announced at the time of its launch, we believe it might be priced at around ₹ 1.6 lakh.
