The India-made Harley-Davidson Street 500 seems to keep doing wonders for the cruiser motorcycle manufacturer in Australia. Since its launch in Australia, the Street 500 has been doing well in terms of sales, so much so, that it’s keeping Harley on the top in the sales charts.
Harley-Davidson has continued to rise with 20.4 per cent of the 22,921 road bike market ,according to figures released today by the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries. The American brand has remained on the top after passing Honda last year.
Biggest sellers for Harley were again the India-made Street 500 in fifth and the Softail Breakout in ninth. With 4,685 unit sales it was followed closely by Honda which sold 45 MN0 units for a 19.6 per cent market share, despite having the top-selling bike in the country. Third was Yamaha with 3541 units, followed by Kawasaki at 2632 units and BMW at 1665 units.
Harley-Davidson India does not offer the 500cc Street option, but one can get the 750cc Street in India for Rs 4.7 lakh (Ex-showroom Mumbai).
