- Both bikes are to enter the Malaysian market by 2023
- Already available in other Asian countries Thailand and Indonesia
Suzuki had launched its quarter-litre siblings, the Gixxer 250 and the Gixxer SF 250, back in 2019 in India. This was followed by their launch in other Asian countries like Vietnam, Thailand, and Indonesia. Now, according to a recent online report, Suzuki is planning to further expand their availability by launching the bikes in Malaysia. The report also clarifies that these made-in-India motorcycles won’t enter the Malaysian market before 2023.
The Gixxer 250 and the SF 250 share their design with their respective 155cc counterparts, barring the different colour options and decals. While both the 250s share almost identical components, they boast different styling – the SF is a fully-faired version while the standard Gixxer is its naked iteration. Regardless of their styling, both bikes are comfortable for daily commuting as well as long-distance rides.
Powering the Gixxer 250 and the SF 250 is a 249cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine that churns out 26.13bhp of power and 22.2Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a six-speed gearbox but misses out on an assist and slipper clutch. Underpinning the bikes is a diamond-type chassis suspended by telescopic forks and a monoshock. Braking is handled by a single disc at both ends. Both bikes are quite basic on the feature front with an LED headlamp and tail lamp, and an LCD dash.
In India, Suzuki has priced the Gixxer 250 at Rs 1.80 lakh and the Gixxer SF 250 at Rs 1.90 lakh (both prices are ex-showroom).
