Suzuki recently announced that it will be assembling the legendary Hayabusa in India. Previously sold as a completely-built-up (CBU) unit, the Hayabusa is the first supersport motorcycle to be ever assembled in India. However, to meet the government regulations the motorcycle will now come with additions like a saree guard and a front number plate holder.
The Japanese manufacturer has set up a different assembly line for this motorcycle at their Manesar facility. Suzuki will be importing all the kits for the bike from its factory in Japan. The Indian bits are the saree guard which comes in a two-piece form and the front number plate comes with a heavy duty bracket; both easily detachable.
With the huge price drop of Rs 2.5 lakh one cannot complain about these two components, if one does not find the need for them, they can easily be taken off. The ‘Indian’ Hayabusa is priced at Rs 13.57 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) down from Rs 16 lakh that was the CBU.
