Polaris has unveiled a new special edition bagger, christened as the Chieftain Elite. Based on the Indian Chieftain, this motorcycle features an exclusive paint scheme, a larger front wheel and a slew of accessories.
The 2018 Chieftain Elite is a premium bagger and features the same overall profile and body panels as the Chieftain along with a few visual upgrades. It sports a custom silver paint scheme as a tribute to the silver mines in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Indian claims that as every Chieftain Elite is hand painted, no two bikes are identical. The paint job by itself takes 25 hours to complete. Besides, it also features a 19-inch 10-spoke front wheel, 200-Watt audio system, LED headlamp, adjustable windshield, billet aluminium floorboards and leather seats.
The Chieftain Elite also gets an upgraded engine. It is the same Thunder Stroke V-twin engine, albeit with a 116 stage three big-bore kit. This has bumped up the displacement from 1819cc to 1900cc. With this, the output has gone up from 84bhp and 149Nm of torque to 100bhp and 172Nm. The rider aids include ABS and a cruise control system.
Prices for the Indian Chieftain Elite start at USD 31,499 (Rs 20.51 lakhs) in the US. Polaris has started accepting bookings for the Roadmaster Elite in India, and depending upon the response, the company might launch in the Chieftain Elite in very limited numbers.
