Indian Motorcycles has announced that the latest addition to its Chief family of cruisers, the Chief Dark Horse, will be launched in the US on February 13. Originally manufactured by Indian Motorcycles between 2010 and 2013, the existence of the new Chief Dark Horse was revealed when the emission documents of the motorcycle surfaced in the US, last month.
The Chief Dark Horse will be unveiled at the end of rally christened the Dark Horse Challenge, which will take place in Chicago on February 13. The company also released a picture of the company’s iconic emblem on the front fender.
The emission certificates had also revealed that the Chief Dark Horse uses the same 111 cubic inch or 1811cc ‘Thunder-Stroke’ engine, which is also used in the rest of the Chief cruiser range. The air-cooled 49-degree V-twin engine is rated at 139Nm of torque and is mated to a six-speed transmission.
As of now, finer details of the Chief Dark Horse are still sketchy, though we expect more to be revealed as we get closer to the launch date. Indian Motorcycles recently launched the Roadmaster in the Indian market with a price tag of Rs 37 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), which makes us believe that the American manufacturer will surely launch the Chief Dark Horse in India too.
