Indian Motorcycle has unveiled the newest member of the Chief range of cruisers, the 2016 Chief Dark Horse. Though the first pictures of the Chief Dark Horse were leaked a few days ago, the motorcycle officially broke cover at the Dark Horse Challenge in Chicago, yesterday.
The Chief Dark Horse loses out on all the shiny chrome which garnishes the other Chief machines, and sports a matte black paint scheme with a trademark ‘Chief’ logo on the fuel tank. The all-black theme' s continuity has been broken in a few places by chrome accents, which add to the cruiser’s appeal. It gets a dual exhaust system which cancels out high-pitched sounds to give out a 'thundering rumble'.
The Chief Dark Horse is built around the same Indian Chief platform and is powered by the traditional 111 cubic inch or 1811cc ‘Thunder-Stroke’ engine. The air-cooled 49-degree V-twin engine is rated at 139Nm of torque and comes mated to a six-speed transmission.
Personalisation plays a big part in the Dark Horse's appeal and the Dark Horse comes with a host of accessories like a passenger seat, cast wheels, blacked-out ape hangers, air cleaners, exhaust, fender trim and 40 other optional extras. The Chief Dark Horse retails at USD 16,999 (Rs 10.55 lakh) with deliveries in the US expected to commence during Spring of 2015.
