- Indian FTR 1200 range to have new motorcycle
- Will be based on the FTR 1200 Rally
- Could be launched in India by 2022
Indian Motorcycles is working on a new FTR 1200 motorcycle, European type-approval documents suggest.
The document reveals that the bike will be called the FTR 1200 S Champion Edition and also gives out a few details. While the name suggests that it would be based on the FTR 1200 S, the dimensions mentioned in the documents reveal that the Champion Edition will be derived from the FTR 1200 Rally. It is longer than the S by 64mm and uses a 19-inch front and 18-inch rear wheel combination from the Rally unlike the rest of the 2021 FTR range that gets 17-inch wheels. Its width is also the same as the FTR Rally at 867mm compared to the 830mm on the other Indian FTRs.
In addition to this, the Indian FTR 1200 Champion Edition is said to weigh 236kg- that is 4kg heavier than the standard FTR S but 3kg lighter than the FTR Rally. Moreover, we can expect it to be adorned with a few carbon fibre components and a paint scheme to match. Indian Motorcycle is likely to launch the FTR 1200 Champion Edition sometime soon. Although it is unlikely to be launched in our country anytime soon.
