Indian FTR 1200 S- Top 5 Highlights

Indian Motorcycle recently launched the FTR 1200 S and FTR 1200 S Race Replica in India. Here’s all you need to know about the two motorcycles.

Gets unique styling

The FTR 1200 is a very distinctive-looking motorcycle. The designers at Indian have taken inspiration from the FTR 750 flat-track competition motorcycle to style the FTR 1200. Hence, it offers a slightly aggressive riding stance thanks to the flat handlebar and mildly rear-set footpegs. To complete its look, the FTR 1200 gets dual, upswept exhaust canisters and rides on Dunlop DTR-3 dual-sport tyres.

Is available in two variants

The motorcycle is available in two versions that differ from each other in terms of colour schemes and a couple of features. While the FTR 1200 S sports an all-black paint scheme, the 1200 S Race Replica gets a red and black colour scheme with its trellis frame and monoshock finished in red.

Loaded with features

Indian Motorcycles has equipped the FTR 1200 with LED lighting for the headlamp, tail lamp as well as turn signals. The bikes also sport a Bluetooth-enabled 4.3-inch LCD  terms odisplay. In terms of electronic rider aids, the FTR 1200 S gets three ride modes; Sport, Standard and Rain, a traction control system, wheelie control and a lean-sensitive stability control system.

Powered by a V-Twin engine

The Indian FTR 1200 uses a 1203cc, V-Twin motor that is capable of churning out 121bhp and 120Nm. This engine comes mated to a six-speed gearbox. To bring the bike to a halt are 320mm dual-disc upfront and 265mm disc at the rear. Meanwhile, suspension duties are looked after by inverted forks for the front and a monoshock at the rear.

Pricing

Indian Motorcycles has pegged the standard FTR 1200 S at Rs 15.99 lakhs and the 1200 S Race Replica at Rs 17.99 lakhs. (ex-showroom). In terms of competition, the bike competes against the BMW R Nine T Scrambler, Ducati Scrambler 1100 and upcoming Triumph Scrambler 1200.
