- To be unveiled at the Intermot show.
- Flat tracker inspired styling.
- Likely to use a retuned version of the Scout’s 1130cc, V-twin engine.
The Indian FTR 1200’s design patents were leaked just a week ago. Now, the American manufacturer has released a video revealing that the bike will be unveiled on October 1 at the Intermot show.
While the video showcased a flat-track competition bike, the design patents revealed what we can expect from the production version. The FTR 1200 gets a circular headlamp likely to be a LED unit. It offers a slightly aggressive riding position thanks to the slightly rear set foot pegs. To complete its flat-tracker inspired design the bike sports a short rear section with twin, side-mounted exhausts.
The bike gets inverted front forks and a rear monoshock that is offset to the right. It is likely to ride on dual-sport rubber with a 19-inch front and 18-inch rear wheel. The design patents also revealed that the bike features an underseat fuel tank and an LCD instrument display. The Indian FTR 1200 is expected to be powered by a retuned version of the Scout’s 1130cc, V-twin engine.
We can expect Indian Motorcycles to introduce the FTR 1200 in India by early 2019. It will compete against the Ducati Scrambler 1100, BMW R Nine T Scrambler and the upcoming Triumph Scrambler 1200.
