The Indian Chapter of the HOG (Harley-Davidson Owners Group) contributed half a million kilometres cumulatively to the annual Million Mile Monday world tour organised between June 23rd and 24th June. The annual ride, which was first launched in 2008 globally, attracted riders from around the country to be part of the passionate parade.
The ride was organised by Harley-Davidson with an aim to set a record of covering 13 million miles over 48 hours. The event was first confined to a single day ride on the last Monday of June was replaced to a two day world ride from 2012 in order to give more riders worldwide an opportunity to be part of the event. Harley-Davidson uses an online mile accumulator during the event where riders can clock the distance of tarmac that they have covered as part of the ride.
A rolling odometer on their official website records and displays the collective distance covered. Every participant was awarded a commemorative certificate upon culmination of the event to cherish the incredible feet.
Notable during this ride was the story of Saurin Shah and Ricken Desai from the Nine Bridges Harley-Davidson, Ahmedabad and the Banjara Harley-Davidson, Hyderabad respectively who clocked over 1500 kms during the 48 hour ride. The organisation of the 2014 ride has already commenced and is expected to be an even bigger event than the one it follows.
