Indian Motorcycles unveiled their latest motorcycle, the Scout on August 2 at the Sturgis motorcycle rally, And with just few days after its global unveil, there are reports suggesting that the Scout will possibly make its way to India in the next few months.
It’s been 70 years since the last Scout was manufactured and ever since, acquiring Indian Motorcycles three years ago, Polaris Industries has been slowly pushing new and better motorcycles into the market. While the Indian operations are not even a year old, Polaris is making sure to attract many enthusiasts to the brand and the Scout might be the right product to do this job.
The Scout is powered by a new 1133cc V-Twin liquid-cooled engine that churns out power close to 100bhp at 8,100rpm and maximum torque of 98Nm at 5,900rpm. This engine is mated to a six-speed transmission that transfers power to the real wheel via A belt drive. With an overall weight of 244kg, the Scout is the lightest in the entire Indian line-up. Standard ABS helps the rider to keep the bike under control.
The Indian Scout is available in four colours – thunder black, silver smoke, thunder black smoke and Indian motorcycle red. It retails at Rs 6.5 lakh in the US market, making it quite affordable. We can expect the same pricing strategy to be followed by Polaris India when it gets the Scout to us this year through the completely-built-up (CBU) route making it tough for the Harley-Davidson Heritage Softail Classic.
