The Indian Scout Sixty has been launched in Ahmedabad with a price tag of Rs 12.89 lakh (ex-showroom). The most affordable motorcycle in the company’s line-up, the Scout Sixty is essentially a downsized version of the regular Scout, and is powered by a smaller 999cc powertrain.
Aesthetically, there are very few bits which distinguish the Scout Sixty from its elder sibling. The chassis, suspension and brakes have also been carried over from the regular Scout. Under the skin though, the Scout Sixty houses a new 999cc version of the existing 1130cc, V-twin engine. Though the torque figure is nearly the same, the power has now dropped from 100bhp to 78bhp. Even the six-speed gearbox has been ditched in favour of a five-speed unit.
The smaller Scout Sixty has been developed as a volumes generator for the American motorcycle brand, targeted at new riders looking to step into the big bike territory. Considering the numbers the regular Scout has raking in globally as well as in India, we can safely expect the Scout Sixty to replicate this success story. The Scout Sixty is available in three paint schemes – black, red and white.
