Indian Motorcycles has launched the Springfield at Rs 30.60 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). This makes the Springfield the seventh Indian model to be sold in the country.
The Springfield is Indian’s yet another attempt to blend modern technologies with classic styling. Named after the birthplace of Indian Motorcycles, the Springfield is a bagger that sits between the Chief Vintage and the Chieftain. While the overall style resembles the Chief Vintage, the American manufacturer has introduced some subtle additions to this bagger to give it distinctive features.
Powering this motorcycle is the same Thunder Stroke 111 V-Twin engine that powers the entire Indian line-up. This motor produces a whopping 137Nm at 2600rpm. In terms of features, the Springfield is loaded with remote locking hard bags and adjustable passenger floorboards. Along with these, the bike is equipped with anti-lock braking system (ABS), tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), electronic cruise control and dual driving lights. For someone who loves accessories, there are standard front and rear highway bars to be used up to mount bags.
“The Indian Springfield offers a good mix of touring comfort and urban versatility through its blend of classic styling and comprehensive modern technology. The launch of the iconic Indian Springfield™ is part of our strategy to introduce products which would take the growth story of Indian Motorcycle to the next level in India. It has been launched to inspire a new generation of riders and satiate their wanderlust. Using a tourer-oriented steering geometry that gives it better handling on the open road, the 2016 Springfield with considerable additional touring capabilities delivers on the tradition of great Indian® Motorcycles. Indian Springfield™ fits perfectly into the Indian line up putting more than enough power to keep you smiling," said Pankaj Dubey, managing director, Polaris India.
The bookings for the Springfield have already begun, however, the deliveries will only begin from August. The Springfield will come to India as a completely-built-up (CBU) unit and will be available at all Indian showrooms.
