The Indian Supercross Racing League got off to a flying start with the first round being held at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Stadium in Pune. CS Santosh’s BigRock Motorsports were the most successful team of the night, bagging podium positions in all races and are now in the lead with 213 points in the bag.
Riding for BigRock Motorsports, Australia's Reid Taylor won in the 250cc-class International race while Thailand’s Thanarat Penjan took top honors in the 250cc India-Asia Mix race. The team’s riders Matt Moss and Cedric Soubeyras also put up a strong fight in the 450cc International class to bag podium positions. The 450cc-class race, in fact, was pretty intense with BB Racing’s Jordi Tixier clinching the victory.
BigRock Motorsports has a 60 points lead over BB Racing who’ve scored 153 points. The third team in the League's standing is Mohite’s Racing Team at 145 points.
With 10,000 people in the audience cheering the riders, Round One of the ISRL was quite the spectacle. To witness an International level Supercross event in India was nothing short of a treat for those who love off-road racing and motorsports in general.
The next round of the Indian Supercross Racing League will be held on February 11 at the EKA Arena in Ahmedabad. The third and final round is in Delhi on February 25 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
