Polaris is going to launch the Indian Chieftain Elite in India very soon. Just like the Roadmaster Elite, which was launched here yesterday, only a handful of these motorcycles will be sold in India.
The Chieftain Elite is a special edition motorcycle based on the Chieftain bagger. It is produced in a limited run of just 350 units. It features a unique hand-painted silver colour scheme, which takes 25 hours to complete. The Chieftain Elite also features a unique 10-spoke design for the 19-inch front and the 16-inch rear alloy wheels, which are shod with Dunlop tyres.
Being the top-of-the-line model in Indian’s bagger range, the Chieftain Elite is equipped with all the bells and whistles. It gets a 200W audio system with saddlebag speakers, a seven-inch touchscreen display loaded which is Bluetooth-enabled and integrates a navigation system. Additionally, it includes trip computers and shows data about the bike.
At the heart of the Chieftain Elite is an 1811cc V-twin engine which churns out 161Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed transmission. Cruise control and ABS are offered as standard. It is expected to be priced around Rs 40 lakhs. While there are no other baggers in this price range, the Chieftain Elite will share the market space with the Harley-Davidson Road Glide Special.
