Indian Motorcycles has just unveiled a pair of new Chieftains – the Chieftain Limited and the Chieftain Elite. While the former is a mass production bike, the latter, as the name suggests, is on a limited run.
These two baggers have received advancements in the aesthetic department. The major changes which both these Indians have got is the new 10-spoke 19-inch front wheel that looks stunning. The front fender isn’t bulbous – in fact, it got a sharper design approach. Due to this, the front brake discs and callipers are exposed, making the bike look little sportier. Then there’s also the colour-matched headlamp bezel and a restyled leather seat to complement the new design. The Limited comes with a new 100-watt premium audio system and there’s an option to add 100-watt speakers inside the saddlebag for the pillion.
In addition to sporting all these features like the Limited, the Chieftain Elite also gets a gorgeous custom paint scheme -fireglow red candy with marble accents. The Elite is also equipped with a Pathfinder LED headlight and driving lights, a new windscreen with a flared top lip, billet rider and passenger floorboards and a 200-watt premium audio system with the saddlebag speakers. The bagger also gets a unique tank console which does add a bit of character to this American bike. Mechanically both bikes have no new changes or additions. The Chieftain Limited and the Elite continues to get its power from the Thunderstroke 111 V-Twin.
Indian is selling the Chieftain Limited for $24,499 (Rs 15.94 lakh), whereas the Chieftain Elite is priced at $31,499 (Rs 20.5 lakh) and only 350 units will ever be made. We’re expecting the Chieftain Limited to come to India sometime this year and when it comes, expect a price tag of close to Rs 50 lakhs, thanks to the high taxation for completely-built-up (CBU) units.
