- BMW C 400 GT launching on 12 October in India
- Will be the most powerful scooter in India
- Likely to be priced north of Rs 5 lakh (ex-showroom)
BMW Motorrad has confirmed through its social media handles that its maxi-scooter, the C 400 GT, will be officially launched in India on 12 October, 2021. With an expected ex-showroom price tag of over Rs 5 lakh, it will be the most expensive scooter in the country.
Unlike the Suzuki Burgman Street 125 and Aprilia SXR 160, the C 400 GT is a true blue maxi-scooter that can be used for munching long miles on the highway. Pre-bookings for the scooter have already commenced for a token amount of Rs 1 lakh. Interestingly, our sources have also informed us that it’s already received around 100 bookings in India.
Typical of a full-blown maxi-scooter, the C 400 GT looks humungous with muscular and angular body panels. With a tall windscreen, pulled-back handlebar, a large stepped seat, a dual footrest provisions, it should be as comfortable as a motorcycle. It is also profoundly rich in terms of features with full-LED lighting, keyless ignition, heated grips, heated seat, ABS, anti-theft alarm system, and a Bluetooth-enabled instrument cluster.
Propelling the C 400 GT is a 350cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine which is paired with a CVT transmission. It makes 33.5bhp of power and 35Nm of peak torque which is should make it a delight to ride. It also gets some electronics aids like ride-by-wire throttle, traction control, and riding modes.
The BMW C 400 GT will carve a niche of its own and won’t have any direct competitors during its launch. However, at a later stage, Honda might enter this space with the Forza 350.
