Kawasaki has finally unveiled the 2017 Ninja 1000 (Z1000SX for the European market) at the ongoing 2016 Intermot Show in Germany.
This new sports tourer gets a host of mechanical and aesthetic changes. The overall design and styling now looks very identical to the Ninja family. The front is more aggressive and thanks to the new all-LED headlamps, the Ninja 1000 looks very sharp. The fairing is wider and the adjustable screen is taller. The seats too, have gone wider and now gets thicker padding for better comfort. The new Ninja 1000 also gets an updated instrument cluster that features a large tachometer sitting beside an LCD screen. This screen shows shift light, gear indicator and a couple of other ride data.
In terms of performance, the Ninja 1000 gets a Euro 4 compliant engine with no change in power figures. This sports tourer is now equipped with the Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) which controls the Kawasaki Cornering Management system. This is very useful for the bikes’ traction control and the cornering ABS which comes as standard. The Japanese manufacturer has revised the pannier system too to make mounting and unmounting easier. The new Ninja 1000 is available in three colour options - candy lime green, metallic spark black and candy burnt orange
We can expect the new Ninja 1000 to come to India sometime next year as a completely-built-up (CBU) unit. And when it does, expect it to be priced slightly higher than the current model.
