KTM has unveiled the new 1090 Adventure at the ongoing 2016 Intermot show in Germany. The 1090 Adventure now becomes the entry-level adventure bike from KTM.
The 1090 Adventure is a heavily upgraded version of the 1050 Adventure, which was revealed two years ago. This new bike will be sold in two versions – the 1090 Adventure and the 1090 Adventure R. While the former is more biased towards road riding, the latter has been designed to take off roads or no roads.
The 1090 Adventure being a road-biased bike gets 19-inch front alloy wheel and 17 at the rear. The tyres are Metzeler Tourance which are more tuned for road usage. The suspension duties for this version is taken care of by 43mm USD WP forks with 185mm travel at the front and WP monoshock with adjustable preload and rebound damping that gives 190mm of travel at the rear. The 1090 Adventure R on the other hand gets more off-road equipment like the knobby Continental TKC tyres, 21-inch spoke wheel at the front and 18-inch at the rear. It also gets an extra suspension travel of 220mm at both the ends. Both suspensions can be adjusted for preload, compression and rebound damping.
Both the bikes are powered by the same 1050cc V-Twin engine that produces 125bhp and 109Nm. Power is almost 30bhp more than the 1050 Adventure but the bike is available in two power options – full 125bhp and 95bhp for the A2 licence holders. In terms of features, both the KTMs get traction control, ABS and rider modes. However, the R versions also get an off road mode that disables the ABS at the rear wheel.
Will it come to India? Well, not very soon, but we would love to see them on the Indian roads.
