Bajaj’s new and upcoming full-faired performance offering has been spotted testing in Lavasa, Pune by Nitin Aggarwal. Due to the heavy camouflage and previous spy shots, it is not clear if this is the KTM Duke 390-based Pulsar 375 or if it is a new sports tourer variant of the Pulsar 200NS which is may get the Pulsar 200SS tag.
What we can certainly say is that either vehicle will include fuel injection, adjustable clip-on handlebars, projector head lamps and obviously a full front faring which is visible in the pictures and gives it the sports touring pedigree. However, despite sporting the 200NS’ wheels, this bike does not have an underbelly exhaust, an indication it may actually be a larger motorcycle. Nitin Aggarwal also confirmed that the instrument console looked exactly like the Pulsar 200NS.Our research also reveals that the bike in the picture looks exactly like the Pulsar 375 spy shots that our friends at PowerDrift had released few months ago. The spied motorcycle features twin pods along with pilot lamps and the turn indicators are the exactly the same, along with the overall front fairing design. The presence of an ABS unit which is usually found in bigger capacity motorcycles adds to our belief. The windshield of the spied bike has a ‘Number 1’ sticker which indicates that there are more than one test mules doing the rounds of Pune and the outskirts. The other test mule being the fully-faired Pulsar 200SS.
Bajaj Auto had announced that they will be launching two new fully-faired Pulsars along with six Discover motorcycles in FY 2013. We can expect the Pulsar 200SS and the Pulsar 375 being developed and tested together. Just a few days ago, Autocar had scooped one picture of the Pulsar 200SS that was testing near Kolhapur. The motorcycle in that picture had white rear alloy wheels whereas the one above has black ones. Cosmetically, both the spied motorcycles are almost similar but that doesn’t mean both are the same motorcycle. Look at the recently unveiled KTM’s RC series. The RC125, RC200 and the RC390 look very similar to each other. We can expect Bajaj to follow the same design and development philosophy.
“Pulsar is number one sports bike in its category in India and we will launch two super sports bikes under this brand by the middle of this financial year,” said Rajiv Bajaj, MD, Bajaj Auto.
Stay tuned to BikeWale as we uncover more details on the upcoming fully-faired Pulsars.
