- US-based EPA documents leaked
- Likely to be launched in 2024
- Could be launched in India as well
Kawasaki could be considering the re-launch of the Ninja ZX-6R for 2024. An Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) document has been recently leaked and reveals that the ZX-6R could come back around 2024. There are various details that confirm it’d be the Ninja ZX-6R rather than any other model.
The EPA sheet reveals that the engine belongs to the 636 line, which is the motor capacity of the Ninja ZX-6R. The Japanese supersport could debut in the US first, followed by other countries. Since the brand already sold it in India previously, we expect the updated model to also be offered here. Moreover, the middleweight supersport segment in India is borderline empty as of now, so the Ninja ZX-6R’s re-entry could create a buzz amongst enthusiasts.
In its previous setup, the Ninja ZX-6R featured a sharp fascia housing the split headlight, and sporty and aggressive bodywork. It was powered by a 636cc inline four-cylinder liquid-cooled motor that made 127.9bhp of max power and 70.8Nm of peak torque. The figures were quite impressive and the bike found a decent amount of success in the Indian market. It even packed an impressive list of rider aids like Kawasaki anti-lock Brake System, Kawasaki Traction Control, Kawasaki Quick Shifter and riding modes as well.
While the current details only reveal the bike’s timeline, you can also expect slight changes in design so the bike sits in line with its remaining Ninja siblings. If Kawasaki brings back the 6R to our market, the asking price could be around Rs. 11 lakh or more.
