Japanese media is reporting that Suzuki is planning to put the Recursion concept motorcycle in to production. First unveiled at the 2013 Tokyo Auto Show, the Recursion’s biggest highlight was its turbocharged engine. And while Kawasaki might have surpassed Suzuki when it comes to forced induction in motorcycles, the Recursion will face no threat from the Ninja H2 as it is will be positioned as a middleweight.
The Japanese magazine has also rendered the motorcycle, with the final product looking very similar to the 2005 Suzuki Stratosphere concept, the six-cylindered 1,100cc monster. The Recursion is expected to be powered by the 588cc parallel-twin engine, which will get an intercooled turbocharger. The engine is rated at 100bhp and 100Nm of torque.
While the concept had the turbocharger positioned below the seat, we expect it to be repositioned for better ergonomics. The turbocharger is not only expected to aid the Recursion’s performance, but also help return a good fuel economy.
The company hasn’t commented either on these rumours or their plans for the Recursion. While the other three of the big four Japanese motorcycle manufacturers (Honda, Kawasaki and Yamaha) have been doing quite well, Suzuki hasn’t been making much of a headway either in production models, or in motorsports. At such a time, the Recursion is the model which has the potential to breathe new life into the brand.
