In just two days, Honda will unveil and maybe even launch their most important motorcycle of the year. This bike has been in development for years and will go against one of the most aspirational brand – Royal Enfield. While the company has been releasing a few teaser videos and sound, we managed to get our hands on one picture that could be of this upcoming Honda motorcycle.
From this picture, it is clear that the bike’s design is more inclined towards its CB modern retro range and not towards the Rebel brand. However, currently Honda only plays in the higher displacement CB retro series. If this motorcycle in the picture turns out to be the new Honda bike for India, then it will become the most affordable CB modern retro bike. That way, it will be easier for the Japanese brand to market the bike thanks to its heritage connection.
This picture reveals a few other things that makes us believe in it a bit more. For example, the seat height is quite low. The seating triangle is relatively upright, thanks to the presence of taller handlebar and center-set pegs. There are alloy wheels too which will help Honda equip it with tubeless tyres.
Coming to the engine, it is likely to be a single cylinder. The displacement isn’t confirmed yet but it is expected to be between 300cc and 350cc. The presence of fins makes us believe that it could be air-cooled. But there’s also a big chance of it being liquid cooled and Honda has used the fins to make it look aesthetically pleasing and classic.
We believe Honda has developed this bike from the ground up for the Indian market as it always believed in making tailor-made products for India. But with this upcoming Royal Enfield rival, the company has taken a shot at the premium segment, which is a first for them. We are quite excited to see this new Honda in person.
Stay tuned to BikeWale as we bring you more information on this new Honda motorcycle.
