The internet is alive with the rendered images of the 2016 Suzuki GSX-R250 and the mighty GSX-R1000R by the Young Magazine from Japan. One look at the new styling and you know this is what most Suzuki fan-boys will want in their garage. The sharp LED headlamps tucked under a sculpted fairing look very aggressive and are in line with the latest trends in motorcycle styling.
The GSXRs have been carrying a similar look since 2005 - a triangular headlamp with flanking air intakes - both of which got sharper with every iteration. The new look ditches the big headlamp but the fairing is the same as before making it look even more convincing. There are hardly any changes on the side – as much as we can gauge from the images. No details of the engine or power figures have been mentioned but if there are any, we expect a high-performance model too, something on the lines of the Yamaha R1 M, Honda RC 213V and the Kawasaki H2.
But what should interest us more is the GSX-R250. It looks almost the same as its elder sibling and with the talks of Suzuki planning a 250cc super sport for India – we may be in for a real surprise. It is not sure if they will go the Ninja way and get a parallel twin or go the CBR way with a single pot mill – but whatever it is – it looks fantastic. Also, with the R3 being launched in India next month and the Benelli TNT 25 to be launched soon, the quarter-litre battle will be fierce. What is important for us is by when will Suzuki get this motorcycle to India and if this is the one and then how do they price it.
