The RC390 and RC200 are two of the most awaited motorcycles from KTM in India. Test mules of the RC 390 have been spied testing previously in Pune. In a recent sighting, another test vehicle was seen doing the rounds.
From the rear three-quarter profile of the bike, we cannot confirm if this is the RC390 or the RC200. However, we guess that whichever this test vehicle might be, it seems to be production ready. The Austrian manufacturer might be making some minor changes before the launch. The camouflaged two-wheeler hides most details, but on comparing with images of the RC 390 and RC200, which were unveiled at the EICMA, we can see the clear similarities.
Being a production version, this test mule includes all the elements like rear-view mirrors, indicators, visor and a number plate holder to make it road legal. The rider’s stance seems to be a comfortable one rather than the aggressive one of the naked siblings- the Duke 390 or the Duke 200. Even though we do not have a picture of the fascia, we are sure from the images seen before that the manufacturer has not made any changes to the twin projector headlamps set up.
The KTM RC 390 is powered by the same single cylinder 373cc engine that powers the naked Duke 390. This one churns out 43bhp of power and 35Nm of torque. The motor is mated to a six-speed sequential gearbox. Similar is the case with the RC 200, which will be powered by the 199.5cc single-cylinder liquid cooled engine that churns out 25bhp of power and 19.2Nm of torque.
Our sources have confirmed that one of the motorcycles from the RC range will soon be launched in India this year. KTM started testing the RC 390 in India and we believe that the two-wheeler manufacturer will launch it while considering the RC 200 as well for the Indian market.
Currently, KTM manufactures the entire RC range at its plant in India, the RC8 being an exception. Till date, the other KTM products have been exported from our country across the world. The RC390 and RC200 might get the same treatment like the Duke 125, Duke 200 and the Duke 390. We ourselves are waiting for KTM to confirm the launch of the RC 390 and the RC 200 in the Indian market. KTM India seems to be finalizing the preparations for the launch of both these faired siblings of the Duke 390 and Duke 200. We hope we see the RC 390 and the RC 200 running on the Indian streets soon.
